1. Observe the device's indicator light or screen display.
Most electronic blood pressure monitors display a battery icon or a "low battery" message on the screen when the battery is low. Some devices show a red light while charging and turn green when fully charged. If the indicator light flashes abnormally (e.g., red light flashing), it may indicate unstable voltage or a device malfunction.
2. Check the battery status.
Replace the battery: If the blood pressure monitor displays a low battery message, first check if the correct type of battery is being used (e.g., standard alkaline batteries), and avoid using high-performance batteries that may cause overvoltage.
Clean the battery compartment: Use a cotton swab dipped in alcohol to wipe the metal contact points inside the battery compartment to ensure there is no corrosion or poor contact.
Remove the batteries when not in use for a long time: This prevents battery leakage from damaging the circuit.
3. Abnormal behavior during measurement.
Sudden low battery warning during pressurization: Immediately replace with new batteries of the same brand and re-measure. If this warning appears three consecutive times, it is recommended to send the device for repair.
Screen does not display values: This may be due to insufficient battery power; replace the batteries and check the contact points.
4. Regular calibration and maintenance.
Calibrate the device: Compare the blood pressure monitor with a professional mercury sphygmomanometer annually. If the error exceeds 5mmHg, calibration is required.
Avoid environmental interference: Keep away from strong electromagnetic fields and use in an environment between 10-40℃.
