1. Preparation before measurement
Choose a suitable sphygmomanometer: Make sure that the electronic sphygmomanometer is calibrated and meets relevant standards, and choose the appropriate cuff size according to your own situation (generally speaking, the width of the cuff should cover about 80% of the circumference of the upper arm, and the length should be able to wrap around the upper arm).
Suitable measurement environment: Avoid strenuous exercise, smoking, drinking, drinking coffee or tea, etc. within 30 minutes before measuring blood pressure, and keep the environment quiet and the temperature suitable.
Relax your mind: Rest for 5-10 minutes before measuring, so that both the body and the mood are in a relaxed state, and avoid emotions such as tension and anxiety that affect the blood pressure measurement results.
2. Measurement posture
Sitting posture: Sit on a chair with a backrest, place both feet flat on the ground, keep the body straight, do not bend or hunchback.
Arm position: Place your arm on the table at the same level as the heart, with the palm facing up. You can put a small pillow or towel under your arm to keep the arm level with the heart to ensure the accuracy of the measurement result. If it is measured in a supine position, the arm should be kept at a 45-degree angle to the body.
3. Wear the cuff
Expose the upper arm: Take off the clothes of the upper arm to be measured or roll up the sleeves. Be careful not to let the clothes press on the blood vessels and affect the blood pressure measurement value.
Place the cuff: Wrap the cuff flatly around the upper arm. The lower edge of the cuff should be 2-3 cm away from the elbow fossa. The tightness should be appropriate to insert a finger. If the cuff is worn too tight, the blood pressure measurement value will be low; if the cuff is worn too loose, the blood pressure measurement value will be high.
4. Start measurement
Turn on the blood pressure monitor: Press the power switch of the electronic blood pressure monitor and wait for the blood pressure monitor to complete the self-test.
Start measurement: Press the "Start" button or the corresponding measurement key, and the blood pressure monitor will automatically start the inflation, measurement and deflation process. During the measurement, keep your body relaxed and do not talk or move your arm.
5. Read the measurement results
Record the values: After the measurement is completed, the display screen of the electronic blood pressure monitor will display the values such as systolic pressure, diastolic pressure and heart rate. Record these values.
Multiple measurements: In order to obtain more accurate blood pressure measurement results, it is recommended to perform multiple measurements. The interval between each measurement should be no less than 1 minute, and the number of measurements should be no less than 3 times. The average value of multiple measurements is taken as the final blood pressure value.
6. Precautions after measurement
Turn off the blood pressure monitor: After the measurement is completed, press the power switch of the blood pressure monitor to turn off the blood pressure monitor.
Arrange the cuff: Empty the gas in the cuff, then arrange the cuff and store it properly.
