1. Reduced auscultation effectiveness:
When worn incorrectly, the ear tubes' curvature doesn't match the natural contour of the ear canal, preventing the eartips from fitting snugly. This causes sound leakage or interference from external noise, affecting the clarity of sounds from internal organs such as heart and lung sounds.
2. Ear canal discomfort or damage:
The reversed pressure of the eartips on the ear canal can cause local blood circulation problems, resulting in redness and pain in the ear canal. Prolonged incorrect wearing may even increase the risk of external otitis.
3. Abnormal equipment function:
Wearing the stethoscope incorrectly can lead to uneven pressure on the diaphragm, accelerating the aging of the tubing or deformation of metal parts, shortening the lifespan of the device.
Correct wearing method:
Direction judgment: The protruding part (or arrow mark) of the ear tube should face forward, and the curved part should naturally fit the contour of the auricle.
Wearing steps: Gently pull the ear tubes to tilt the metal part forward by 15 degrees, and gently insert the eartips into the ear canal without forcing them in.
Verification of effectiveness: After wearing, gently tap the stethoscope head. If the sound is clear and bright (like the sound of "a peeled egg"), it is correct.
