1. Observe the curvature of the eartips.
Stethoscope eartips are usually designed with a curved structure tilted forward at a 15-30 degree angle. When worn correctly, the eartips naturally curve towards the bridge of the nose. If installed incorrectly, the tips of the eartips will point backward, not matching the structure of the ear canal, which may lead to sound leakage or discomfort.
2. Check the direction of the tubing.
The connection point of the binaural tubes is Y-shaped. When installed correctly, the tubes on both sides extend naturally downwards from the bifurcation point. If the tubes are twisted or reversed, they may cross or fold back at the neck, affecting the efficiency of sound transmission.
3. Test the wearing comfort.
When worn correctly, the eartips should fit completely into the ear canal without any pressure. If the edge of the eartip presses against the helix of the ear causing discomfort, the direction may be wrong. Gently pull the auricle back before wearing; after correct installation, release your fingers and the eartips should remain stable and not fall off.
4. Verify the auscultation effect.
After wearing, gently tap the chestpiece of the stethoscope. If the sound is clear and without noise, the direction is correct; if the sound is muffled or there is sound leakage, the direction of the tubes needs to be readjusted.
