I. Preparation Before Measurement: Laying the Foundation
1. Rest Quietly: Rest quietly for at least 5-10 minutes before measurement. Avoid measuring immediately after exercise, smoking, or drinking coffee or strong tea.
2. Choose the Appropriate Cuff: Ensure the cuff size is correct. The lower edge should be 2-3 cm above the elbow crease. The tightness should allow for the insertion of 1-2 fingers.
3. Correct Posture: Measure while seated with your back straight and feet flat on the ground. Relax your arm naturally, keeping it at the same level as your heart.
II. Measurement Procedure: Precise Execution
1. Cuff Placement: Wrap the cuff smoothly, aligning the endotracheal tube with the brachial artery (inner side of the arm).
2. Start Measurement: Press the button. Remain quiet; do not speak or move until the measurement is complete.
3. Natural Breathing: Breathe normally while the cuff inflates; do not hold your breath.
III. Post-Measurement Processing: Improving Reliability
1. Multiple Measurements: It is recommended to take 2-3 measurements each time, with 1-2 minutes between each measurement. Take the average of the last few measurements as the final result.
2. Timely Recording: Record the date, time, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, and heart rate of each measurement for easy trend tracking.
IV. Special Precautions
1. Regular Calibration: It is recommended to have the anhydrous sphygmomanometer calibrated by a professional institution every 1-2 years to ensure accuracy.
2. Avoid Vibration: Keep away from violent vibrations during use and storage.
3. Seek Medical Attention Promptly for Abnormal Results: If the measurement results remain abnormal (e.g., systolic pressure ≥180 or diastolic pressure ≥110), or if symptoms such as dizziness or chest tightness occur, please seek medical attention immediately.
