I. Disinfection Methods
1. Alcohol Wiping: Gently wipe the probe and casing with a cotton ball soaked in 75% medical alcohol or gauze, avoiding the circuit board and display screen.
Caution: Alcohol is flammable; keep away from fire. People with sensitive skin should be aware of potential reactions after use.
2. Iodine Disinfection: Apply iodine to the probe surface, leave it for a moment, then wipe it dry with clean gauze.
Caution: Iodine has low irritation and a wide range of applications.
3. Immersion Disinfection: Waterproof probes can be immersed in 75% alcohol or chlorine-containing disinfectant (500-1000 mg/L) for 5-30 minutes, then rinse with cooled boiled water and dry.
Caution: Do not immerse non-waterproof probes to avoid damage.
4. Ultraviolet Disinfection: Place the probe in an ultraviolet disinfection chamber for 30 minutes.
Caution: Ultraviolet light can destroy the DNA structure of pathogens, achieving disinfection.
5. High-Temperature Disinfection
Some electronic thermometers can withstand high temperatures and can be disinfected in high-temperature environments, but care must be taken to control the temperature and time.
Caution: Avoid excessively high temperatures that could damage the device.
II. Precautions
Turn off the device before cleaning. Do not use harsh cleaning agents.
Calibrate regularly, every six months or one year.
Store in a dry, cool place. If not in use for a long time, store in a sealed bag.
Avoid interference. Keep away from strong magnetic fields, high temperatures, and high humidity.
III. Disinfection Points for Different Probe Types
Electronic Thermometer Probe: Wipe with alcohol for 3 minutes; waterproof probes can be soaked for 5 minutes.
Infrared Forehead Thermometer Probe Lens: Gently wipe with alcohol and let stand for 30 minutes before use.
Mercury Thermometer Probe: Soak in alcohol or chlorine-containing disinfectant. Take care to prevent drop.
IV. Disinfection Frequency
Daily Cleaning: Wipe after each use.
Deep Cleaning: Once a week or once a month, depending on usage frequency.
