1. Appearance inspection: Carefully check the surface of the cuff for cracks, damage or wear. Pay special attention to the air bag part, because this is the most likely place for air leakage. If any damage is found, there is a high probability of air leakage.
2. Touch inspection: When the cuff is not inflated, gently touch the cuff with your hand to feel whether there is a gas leak. You can touch it from various parts of the cuff, including the air bag, connecting tube, etc. If you can feel that there is gas leaking from a certain part, then it means that the cuff has an air leakage problem.
3. Inflation inspection: Connect the cuff to the blood pressure monitor and inflate it according to the normal operating method. During the inflation process, pay attention to whether the cuff can expand quickly. If the cuff inflates slowly or cannot be inflated at all, it may be that the cuff has an air leak. In addition, you can also close the valve of the cuff after inflation and observe for a period of time to see if the cuff will gradually deflate. If the cuff deflates significantly in a short period of time, it also indicates that there is an air leak.
4. Auscultation check: After inflation, place the stethoscope on the skin under the cuff to listen for any sound of gas leakage. If you can hear a "hissing" sound or other abnormal sound, the cuff may be leaking.
5. Comparison check: If conditions permit, you can use another known normal cuff for comparison check. Connect the two cuffs to the sphygmomanometer, inflate and measure, and observe whether the performance of the two cuffs is the same. If one of the cuffs is obviously difficult to inflate or the measurement result is abnormal, then the cuff may have a leak.
6. Check the connection: Check whether the connection between the cuff and the sphygmomanometer is tight, loose or leaking. You can try to gently pull the connecting tube to see if there is any gas leaking out. If there is a problem with the connection, it may also cause the cuff to leak.
7. Check the valve: Check whether the valve on the cuff is working properly and whether it can be completely closed and opened. If the valve is faulty, it may cause gas leakage. You can try to operate the valve to listen for any abnormal sounds or feel whether the gas can flow normally.
