Before calibration:
1. Before use, you must clarify the product type and model, and you can check the instructions or product labels to obtain relevant information.
2. Prepare appropriate tools: Prepare tools according to the calibration method. Common tools include ice-water mixtures, standard thermometers with known accurate temperatures, etc. When using ice-water mixtures, ensure that the ratio of ice and water is appropriate and the temperature is stable at around 0℃; when using standard thermometers, choose thermometers with high accuracy, calibrated, and a measurement range that covers the calibration range of electronic thermometers.
3. Check the status of the thermometer: Check whether the appearance of the electronic thermometer is damaged, whether the probe is clean, and whether the battery is sufficient. If the thermometer is damaged or faulty, it may affect the calibration results and needs to be repaired or replaced first.
During calibration:
1. Control environmental conditions: The ideal calibration environment temperature is around 25℃. Too high or too low a temperature will affect the accuracy of the calibration. Avoid calibrating in direct sunlight, air conditioning outlets, fans, etc. to prevent ambient temperature fluctuations from interfering with the calibration results. In addition, the ambient humidity must also be appropriate. High humidity may cause water vapor to condense on the thermometer probe, affecting heat transfer and thus affecting the calibration results.
2. Follow the operating steps: Strictly follow the calibration steps in the manual. The method of entering the calibration mode, the calibration operation process and the required time for electronic thermometers of different brands and models may be different. For example, some thermometers require a long press of a button or several buttons at the same time to enter the calibration mode, and follow the prompts in the calibration mode; some may automatically calibrate after being placed in a specific temperature environment for a certain period of time. During the calibration process, ensure that the operation is standardized, such as inserting the probe into the ice-water mixture or contacting the standard thermometer accurately to avoid errors introduced by improper operation.
3. Take the average value of multiple measurements: To improve the accuracy of calibration, multiple measurements can be taken and the average value can be taken. If an ice-water mixture is used for calibration, the probe can be inserted into different positions for multiple times, and the average value can be taken as the calibration result, but each measurement must ensure that the probe is clean and dry.
After calibration:
1. Verify the calibration effect: After the calibration is completed, use the calibration tool to measure the known temperature again to verify whether the reading of the electronic thermometer is accurate. If there is still a large error, recalibrate or check whether the thermometer has other problems.
2. Record calibration information: Record the calibration date, calibration method, calibration results and other information to facilitate tracking of thermometer calibration and performance changes. If the measurement results are abnormal, refer to the calibration record to troubleshoot the problem.
3. Regular calibration: The calibration frequency of the electronic thermometer depends on factors such as the frequency of use and environmental conditions. It is generally recommended to calibrate once every six months to one year; if it is used frequently or in harsh environments, it needs to be calibrated more frequently. In addition, when the thermometer measurement results are found to be obviously inaccurate or unstable, they should be calibrated in time.
