1. Routine Daily Disinfection (Recommended First Choice)

Disinfection Method: 70%-75% Medical Alcohol Wiping Method

This is the safest and most effective disinfection method, conforming to the official guidelines of mainstream brands (such as 3M Littmann):

Wipe only the parts that come into contact with the human body (stethoscope head, earplug, ear tube). For the main unit and tubing, only wipe the surface.

Use an alcohol wipe or clean soft cloth soaked in alcohol, squeeze out excess alcohol until it is no longer dripping, and then wipe to avoid alcohol seeping into the device.

After wiping, let it air dry in a ventilated place. No additional cleaning is required.

Suitable Scenarios: Home daily use, routine clinical use by multiple people, and routine disinfection without obvious contamination.

2. Disinfection in Special Infection Scenarios

Disinfection Method: Wiping with 500mg/L Available Chlorine Disinfectant
For use after contact with patients with infectious diseases, patients with multidrug-resistant bacteria, or after contact with blood/body fluid contaminants:

First, clean the surface contaminants with a neutral cleaning solution, then wipe the parts that will come into contact with the body with a diluted chlorine disinfectant solution;

After disinfection, wipe off any residual disinfectant with a clean, damp cloth, then allow to air dry to prevent residual disinfectant from corroding the outer casing.

Note: Only wipe; do not soak the stethoscope head or main unit.

3. Physical Disinfection Method

Disinfection Method: UVC-LED Ultraviolet Disinfection

Studies have proven that specialized small UVC-LED disinfection devices are effective at disinfecting bacteria on the surface of stethoscopes. They do not require contact with liquids, making them safer for electronic devices.

Place the stethoscope head, earpiece, and other components into the disinfection device and irradiate for the specified time according to the device instructions.

This method is simple to operate, suitable for rapid clinical disinfection, and will not damage electronic components. The disadvantage is that a dedicated device needs to be purchased separately.

❌ Absolutely Prohibited Disinfection Methods

Do not immerse the entire stethoscope or stethoscope head in disinfectant/water, as this will directly damage the internal electronic components.

Do not use high-temperature autoclaving or ethylene oxide sterilization, as this will damage rubber tubing and electronic components.

Do not wipe with abrasive cleaners or organic solvents, as this will corrode the outer casing and tubing, accelerating aging.
