The difference between cup-type auscultation head and membrane-type head: The stethoscope was conceived by Mr. Finlake in France. His stethoscope is cup-shaped and can pick up all audible frequencies; the membrane-type ear has a membrane to filter out low-frequency sounds with a frequency less than 200 Hz, making it more sensitive to high-frequency sounds. When using, it must be firmly attached to the human body. The membrane ear can be made larger than the cup ear, so the volume of the membrane ear is stronger than the cup ear.

Clinical application of earphones: In cardiac auscultation, the membrane earphone can hear high frequency sounds well, and the cup earphone is suitable for listening to low frequency sounds or noise. Modern stethoscopes are all double-sided stethoscopes. There are both membrane and cup types on the auscultation head. The conversion between the two only needs to be rotated 180o. Experts recommend that clinical doctors use double-sided stethoscopes. There is also a patented technology called floating membrane technology. The membrane auscultation head can be changed into a cup-type ear head in a special way to hear low-frequency noise. Both normal and abnormal lung sounds are high-frequency sounds, and only a membrane ear can be used for lung auscultation.

The cold ring on the ear: When going to diagnostics, the teacher taught that the stethoscope should be kept in the hand for a while before giving the patient auscultation to avoid the cold metal on the stethoscope irritating the patient. The use of cold-proof rings on modern stethoscopes is more humane, reducing the stimulation of cold metal to patients.
