I. Preparation Before Use
Check Test Strips and Instrument: Ensure the test strips are within their expiration date and the model matches the blood glucose meter. Before opening new test strips, verify that the meter code matches.
Clean Hands: Wash hands thoroughly with warm water and allow to air dry naturally to avoid residual moisture or food affecting the results.
II. Blood Collection and Testing
Disinfection: Disinfect the side of your fingertip with a 75% alcohol wipe. Ensure the alcohol has completely evaporated before collecting blood; otherwise, the reading will be too low.
Blood Collection: Quickly insert the lancet into the side of your fingertip and gently squeeze to form a blood drop. Wipe away the first drop with a cotton ball and use the second drop. Avoid excessive squeezing to prevent tissue fluid from contaminating the results.
Blood Absorption and Reading: Allow the blood drop to naturally contact the blood absorption port on the test strip. Wait for the instrument to beep before completing the blood absorption. The result will be displayed within 5-15 seconds; record the value and time promptly.
III. Precautions
Avoid Operational Errors: Avoid strenuous exercise or emotional excitement before blood collection; rest quietly for 10 minutes. Do not use iodine solution for disinfection, as this may interfere with the test strip reaction.
Test Strip Storage: Test strips must be sealed and protected from light. Use within three months of opening. Avoid moisture and high temperatures.
Instrument Calibration: Calibration is required for new instruments, when changing test strip batch numbers, or when results are abnormal. Use the matching calibration solution or compare with venous blood from a hospital.
IV. Result Recording and Maintenance
Data Recording: Record blood glucose levels, time, and medication usage after each test for doctor evaluation.
Instrument Maintenance: Regularly clean the blood glucose meter slot and casing with a soft cloth. Avoid high temperature and humid environments. Remove batteries if not used for extended periods.
V. Common Issues
Abnormal Results: If multiple measurements show abnormal results or the instrument displays an error message, contact after-sales service or seek medical attention.
Blood Collection Pain: Choose the side of the ring or little finger; pain is less severe.
