1. Preparation
Check whether the blood glucose monitor has sufficient power, whether the test strip is within the validity period, and make sure that the test strip matches the blood glucose meter.
Wash your hands with soap and warm water, and dry them to ensure that the blood collection site is clean.
2. Blood collection
Use a disposable blood collection needle to collect enough blood samples from the fingertips or other suitable parts according to the instructions. It is usually necessary to gently squeeze the blood collection site to allow the blood to flow out naturally, and avoid excessive squeezing to cause tissue fluid to mix with the blood, affecting the measurement results.
3. Detection
Drop the collected blood sample on the designated area on the test strip, or insert the test strip into the blood glucose meter according to the operating instructions of the blood glucose meter. Make sure that the blood completely covers the detection area of the test strip.
Wait for the blood glucose meter to display the measurement results, which usually takes a few seconds to a minute, depending on the model of the blood glucose meter.
4. Recording and analysis
Record the measurement results, including measurement time, blood glucose value and other information. You can use a special blood glucose recording form or mobile phone application to record data to better analyze blood glucose trends.
Based on the measurement results and the doctor's advice, take appropriate measures, such as adjusting diet, exercise or drug treatment.
