1. Pay attention to the purpose of each electronic thermometer
See clearly the purpose of each electronic thermometer. For example, the oral thermometer can only be used in the oral cavity. For the underarm thermometer, the probe should be tightly clamped and pressed in the middle of the armpit. The ear thermometer needs to straighten the ear canal to obtain accurate measurement values. To remind mothers, ear thermometers are not suitable for babies under three months, because their external auditory canal is still too small.
2. Ensure the closedness of the measurement environment
Relatively closed measurement environments include: rectal temperature measurement is the most accurate way to determine whether a baby has a fever, because this is the environment closest to the baby's body temperature, and it is also a very closed environment. This method is very suitable for babies under 3 years old. Oral temperature measurement is second only to rectal temperature measurement to determine whether the baby has a fever. The oral cavity is also a relatively closed environment, but it may be difficult to ensure that the baby does not open his mouth and speak during the measurement. In addition, when measured properly, the underarm can also be a suitable enclosed environment.
The relatively less closed measurement environment is the ear canal and the forehead. The ear canal is not a closed environment, and the error of ear temperature measurement is large. Forehead temperature measurement is the most inadvisable method, because the forehead itself is not the internal environment of the human body, and the sealing is very poor. Usually sweating, drinking water, and even washing your face will affect the temperature change of the forehead.
