1. Preparation: Let the patient rest for 5-10 minutes, keep quiet, sit on a chair, let the arm hang naturally, wrap the cuff flatly around the upper arm, the lower edge of the cuff should be 2-3 cm above the elbow, and the tightness should be such that 1-2 fingers can be inserted.
2. Inflation and measurement: Close the deflation valve, repeatedly squeeze the inflated balloon by hand to gradually increase the pressure in the cuff, and observe the pressure gauge pointer at the same time. When the pointer rises to 30-40mmHg above the expected systolic pressure, stop inflating.
3. Deflation and reading: Slowly open the deflation valve to evenly reduce the pressure in the cuff at a speed of about 2-3mmHg per second. Listen carefully to the Korotkoff sound. When the first Korotkoff sound is heard, the reading on the pressure gauge is the systolic pressure; when the Korotkoff sound disappears, the reading on the pressure gauge is the diastolic pressure.
4. Record and organize: After the measurement is completed, record the blood pressure value in time, then loosen the cuff and organize the sphygmomanometer for next use.
