1. Reduce the physiological changes during blood pressure measurement. Blood pressure measurement should be performed in a quiet and warm room to ensure that the patient does not eat, smoke, drink coffee or fill the bladder within a short period of time, and explain the method of blood pressure measurement to reduce the patient’s anxiety sense.

2. When the patient takes the sitting position, his back should be leaned against the back of the chair, legs should not be crossed, and feet should be flat. Regardless of whether the patient is sitting or supine, the midpoint of the upper limbs should be at the level of the heart, and rest for 5 minutes after the posture.

3. Place the balloon in the center of the brachial artery, wrap it around the arm in a flat and fit manner, place the lower edge of the balloon about an inch above the elbow, place the sphygmomanometer at a line parallel to the field of view, and inform the patient that the measurement is in progress do not speak.

4. Set the maximum expansion level (the estimated systolic blood pressure reading plus 30 mmHg is the maximum expansion level).

5. Quickly release the air in the cuff, wait 30 seconds and then inflate again.

6. Insert the stethoscope and confirm its orientation forward.

7. Gently place the ear tip of the stethoscope on the palpable brachial artery, but seal it, being careful not to put any part of the end of the stethoscope under the blood pressure cuff.

8. Quickly inflate the airbag to the maximum level.

9. Slowly release the air to make the pressure drop steadily at 2~3mm/sec.

10. Record the systolic blood pressure in the Korotkoff sound phase in two consecutive sounds.

11. Record the diastolic blood pressure at the Korotkoff stage.

12. Continue listening until it is 10 mmHg below the diastolic pressure, then deflate completely and quickly.

13. Wait a minute or two for repeated blood pressure measurements on the same arm.
