Blood pressure can be measured with a medical equipment called an upper arm sphygmomanometer. A cuff, a cuff connecting tube, a manometer, and a pump are typically included. Accurate blood pressure measurements are mostly obtained by home users and medical experts. With this kind of sphygmomanometer, blood flow must be momentarily stopped by placing an inflated cuff over the upper arm. The pressure is then measured once the cuff is deflated.

Advantage
1. Accuracy: When used properly, upper arm sphygmomanometers are typically more accurate than wrist or finger sphygmomanometers.
2. Versatile: These gadgets provide accurate and consistent readings and can be used at home or in a hospital setting.
3. Consistency: A more reliable measuring location is offered by upper arm sphygmomanometers.
4. Convenience: Automatic digital blood pressure monitors are simple to operate and perfect for use at home, particularly for those who are not very experienced with taking blood pressure.
Precautions for Use
1. Select an appropriate cuff: Based on the user's upper arm circumference, select a cuff that is the right size. It is possible that the measured value will be too high if the cuff is too short or narrow, and too low if the cuff is too wide or long.
2. To properly wear the cuff, remove your top or wear only thin underwear, wrap the cuff around your upper arm flat, with the lower edge 2-3 cm from the elbow, and tighten it just enough that you can insert 1-2 fingers into it so that the center of the cuff lines up with the brachial artery's pulse.
3. Maintain proper posture: To ensure that your upper arm and heart are at the same level, you should sit in a chair with a backrest, place your feet flat on the floor, relax, and naturally extend your arms on the table with the palms facing up.
4. Calculate the average of several measurements: To get more precise blood pressure readings, it is advised to take several readings simultaneously, in the same position, and with a one to two minute gap between each measurement. The average should then be used as the final measurement result.
