Instructions for Use
- Preparatory Measures: The patient should be seated in a comfortable position, maintaining a relaxed body, particularly in the arm. It is advisable for the patient to sit quietly for a few minutes prior to the measurement, avoiding vigorous physical activity or emotional agitation.
- Cuff Application: The cuff should be wrapped around the patient's bare upper arm, ensuring that the lower edge of the cuff is snugly placed just below the elbow. The cuff should rest snugly against the skin without being overly tight.
- Positioning for Measurement: Confirm proper placement of the cuff, with the rubber bladder positioned on the inner arm of the individual, while the examiner and the subject should maintain a comfortable posture without excessive movement.
- Inflation: Using an air pump or manual inflation bulb (if available), gradually increase the pressure in the cuff's bladder until it reaches approximately 30mmHg above the anticipated systolic pressure.
- Measurement of Systolic Pressure: Place the stethoscope on the inner side of the subject's elbow and observe the auscultated systolic pressure value. Simultaneously, observe the scale markings on the pressure gauge and record the value of the systolic pressure.
- Gradual Deflation: Slowly release the air from the rubber bladder until the pressure is completely released.
- Reinflation: After waiting approximately 1 to 2 minutes, reinflate the cuff, this time inflating it 30mmHg above the known systolic pressure of the patient.
- Measurement of Diastolic Pressure: Observe and record the diastolic pressure value using the stethoscope and the pressure gauge.
- Data Recording: Record the obtained systolic and diastolic pressure values in the patient's medical record or measurement chart for future reference.
- Deflation: The final step involves completely releasing the air from the bladder and then removing the blood pressure cuff from the arm.
