Gallium Liquid Thermometer

Gallium liquid thermometer is a unique thermometer that uses liquid gallium as the medium to measure temperature. This thermometer is based on the unique property of gallium, which changes from solid gallium to liquid when the temperature increases and the temperature of this transition is 29.76 degrees Celsius. This property makes gallium an ideal thermometer medium as it can provide highly accurate temperature measurements.

It is based on the principle of thermal expansion and contraction. When the temperature changes, the liquid gallium or gallium-based alloy in the thermometer will expand or contract. Taking the glass thermometer as an example, the liquid level in the capillary tube rises or falls, and the temperature value can be read from the scale on the glass tube.

1. Before taking the patient's temperature, check whether the column of liquid is below 36C.
2. Clean the thermometer before and after each use. In doing so, please pay attention to the"Notes on Cleaning" below.
3. Position the thermometer on the body according to the method of measurement to be used (axillary, rectal, or oral)
4. After about 4 minutes the thermometer will have reached the body temperature. The measuring fluid in the measurement capillary of the thermometer shows the measured body temperature on the temperature scale.
The temperature can be read off by rotating the thermometer gently to and fro.
5. After measuring, the liquid must be returned to the bottom of the scale. To do this, hold the thermometer as close as possible to the upper end and shake it with 15 to 20 rapid wrist movements.
