Description

The Stand Type Aneroid Sphygmomanometer is a medical device used to measure blood pressure. It consists of a manometer (pressure gauge), a cuff, and a stethoscope (usually used together for auscultation). The stand type is characterized by its mounting structure, which allows the instrument to be fixed, usually placed on a stand or frame. This type of sphygmomanometer is often used in clinics, hospitals, and other medical institutions to measure blood pressure in a more professional and precise manner.

Working Principle

Aneroid sphygmomanometers use a mechanical meter (aneroid sphygmomanometer) to measure blood pressure. The device consists of an inflatable cuff that wraps around the upper arm, a balloon to inflate the cuff, and a meter to read the pressure. The cuff is inflated until arterial blood flow is blocked, then the pressure is slowly released while listening to Korotkoff sounds with a stethoscope. The first sound heard (systolic pressure) and the point in time when the sound disappears (diastolic pressure) are recorded as the blood pressure.

Advantage

1. Professional Use: It offers precise and trustworthy readings and is intended for use in clinical or medical settings.
2. Stability: The meter is stable and locked in place thanks to the stand, which guarantees accurate readings and facilitates taking multiple measures.
3. Durability: Because aneroid sphygmomanometers don't contain mercury, they are believed to be more resilient, making them ideal for settings where glass breakage is a worry.
4. Mercury-free: Aneroid sphygmomanometers are safer and easier to transport because they don't utilize mercury.

Precautions for Use

1. Regular calibration: Despite the aneroid sphygmomanometer's relative stability, it still requires calibration on a regular basis to ensure the accuracy of the measurement results. The calibration cycle typically lasts between six and twelve months.

2. Proper placement: The sphygmomanometer should be used on a dry, stable surface to prevent tilting and vibration, which can affect the measurement results.

3. Select the appropriate cuff: Depending on the patient's arm thickness, select a cuff that fits the arm snugly without being too tight or loose.
